At the Hayfield Manor Hotel for Afternoon tea | Review

This grey and wet Monday afternoon, mum and I went to the Hayfield Manor Hotel to experience and indulge in what is supposed to be "The best afternoon tea in Cork City".
We arrived at around 13:00 hungry and wet, and could not wait to get spoilt and take on the challenge!

The Hayfield Manor Hotel is set in the city of Cork , just a stone's throw from the University College Cork and a 15 minute walk from Cork's city centre.
According to their web site, afternoon tea is served on two sitting daily from 13:30 and 16:00. From the 1st December until the 6th January 2016 tea will be served from 13:00 and 15:30.
Before we were sat at our table, we had the time to enjoy the magical Christmas decorations in the reception area. What a festive atmosphere!
Once we were seated, our waiter came straight to our table and took our beverage order.
Both mum and I ordered the Prosecco Afternoon Tea (39€) which mum accompanied with an Organic Black Tea from Java Republic (decaffeinated) and I had my first decaffeinated Cappuccino, which I LOVED and can't understand why I have never tried it before.

Together with our drinks we were served a complimentary chocolate orange truffle and a 'shot' of a virgin Mojito. Both tasted beautiful and were a nice touch.
The tea contained a selection of finger sandwiches, fruit scones and a selection of home made cakes and pastries.
The selection of sandwiches were a chicken and pesto, steak, egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon.
The were very tasty , perfectly filled and fresh. Hayfield Manor also offers a Gluten Free Afternoon tea, just ask your waiter/waitress for details.
The Prosecco Afternoon Tea comes with a variety of freshly made cakes - a carrot cake, lemon slice , a beautiful Opera cake, Ginger and Banana cake, a slice of Raspberry Cheese cake, a beautifully filled Bailey's profiterole and the best I have ever tasted hazelnut-pistacio biscotti!
All very well done and freshly made.  If it sounds a lot, it's because it is! My mum never finished all of her sweets , and we did regret not leaving a savoury sandwich for the end, as it would have helped balance the sweetness.
All in all it was a great experience. Not just for the food but also for the amazing atmosphere and the great service.
The Hayfield Manor Hotel  is a luxurious hotel and the tea WAS the best in Cork City.
Mum and I are going to make it in to annual occasion and we will be visiting them again when she  is next in the country.

Why not treat yourself and your loved ones this Christmas?

You can find out more about the hotel and their Afternoon Tea options on their web site

Have you had Afternoon tea at the Hayfield Manor ? What did you think?
